Turning graduates’ heads towards the multi-disciplined world of advertising.

The aim of IPA AdMission is to attract fantastic undergraduate and graduate students from all areas of study, in particular STEM and BAME, to the multi-disciplined world of advertising. Having previously worked with the IPA on a number of campaigns and initiatives, we were commissioned to create a distinctive sub-brand and website that would not only appeal to students, but also communicate the wide-ranging potential of advertising to the students’ parents, tutors, universities and colleges.

As a showcase of the entire advertising industry, we had to ensure that IPA AdMission communicated to its audiences in the most engaging, informative and relevant ways. We therefore devised a vibrant and dynamic visual style using amorphic geometric shapes to illustrate the sheer potential that advertising provides graduates. The new look and feel allowed us to demonstrate all manner of important information – from geotagging all of the advertising agencies across the UK through to highlighting interesting facts, stats and data.

Working closely with the IPA, we hand selected 13 recent graduates into the advertising industry – each with very different qualifications, backgrounds, skills and aptitudes. From junior strategists and planners, through to client services, art directors and copywriters, we brought their stories to life in their own words – accompanied by some captivating portrait and reportage photography shot by Richard Moran on location at an award-winning agency in Central London.

With imagery and visual style in place, we set about designing and building a contemporary, responsive website that would not only showcase the diverse roles and opportunities available within the industry, but would also act as a central hub of information for undergraduates and graduates to explore where and how they might fit in, as well as allowing them to gain access to routes into the industry.

Through our comprehensive AdMission programme, we hope to attract graduates from a wider range of backgrounds and disciplines to up-skill the industry and achieve better cross-cultural representation in every part of the business. Through research, the IPA has identified our members take on nearly 1,000 graduates a year, making the advertising industry a top 10 graduate employer. We believe it will be good for graduates, as prospective employees, to be able to go to a single portal and discover the great career opportunities our members can offer.
